One of the tyres mentioned in the French overview is the Michelin XY 9.00-16 tyre with road tread. It is no longer made new but good second hand / NOS examples can be found. Advantages of this tyre are good handling on roads, and a slightly larger diameter than bar grips which helps with fuel economy.

And to my surprise, they fit on WD divided rims without having to modify the rim or tyre! No fitting tricks or extra tyre soap needed, they slip right in.
