Agreed, the block is likely from a sedan. Seems to me the model of the engine is the first 3 digits before the serial of the engine, so a Canadian engine should have the T249 in that location.



I put a 265 into a M37 many many years back. The engine was salvaged form an old GPU, and had been a training aid for some time. When it was about toget the heave ho into the scrap bin, I grabbed it and installed it into the M37. It was a fairly direct fit, although if memory serves there may have been a threaded hole or two on the M37 engine that was not on the larger motor.
All of the Chrysler/Dodge flatheads could be interchanged with a few minor changes or parts. Ont thing to watch of ris that the oil pump and distibutor match. Some are offset and some are center on the little flat that fits between the two.
