I think david is after the actual engine number ,not the casting number
Should be on the flat section behind the dizzy or just in front as these pictures show
Probably have to dig off half an inch of crap to find it
With this number you should be able to tell if it is an near original block or later replacement
with a rebuild date of 1945 it should be pretty close
