Based in the Tweed/Belleville area, this ad lists a number of bits of electronic equipment for sale, pick up only, $50.00 each.
The very last item is one of these late 1940's pieces of test gear.. There is a thread about this equipment in our Wireless forum, for reference. only three examples of this signal generator are currently known to have survived. I have one with black chicken head knobs. Of the other two, one has black knobs as well and the second has red. No manuals have been found for this equipment so far, but John at Pacific TV in Victoria reverse engineered a circuit diagram a number of years ago which is available on his website.
The original handle should be black leather and a modern match is available from a number of vintage leather strap makers specializing in antique radio on line.
The item taped to the top of the case in the Kijiji photo appears to be one of the Probe Terminal Cover Caps.. these were secured by the panel screw directly below the two terminals.
