Jack,
The 6/14 indicates Divisional Artillery Heaquarters of the 6th Division. I am a bit of an infantry enthusiast actually but they had boring single colours so I went with the red/blue artillery scheme.
The vehicle number was produced by chance. I bought a 2 gallon water/fuel can (now mounted on the front) stamped 1941 at the Toowoomba swap meet a couple of weeks ago. As I was stripping the paint off I found the original "light stone" desert colour and on the side in stenciled letters about 2 1/2 inches high was painted M8363. Could the Dodge have any other number?
Personalised Plates Queensland (subsidiary of Qld Transport who rake in millions catering to egos) have given me for free the registration number DDI944 to be in keeping with the expedition.
