Les Foster,
The front floor of the bed was metal for a foot or so and behind that it was tongue and groove lumber. Under the lumber part is a simple framework made of 1" angle iron that you likely still have. There were metal strips screwed on over the joins in the sticks. This first pic gives the idea but it's the only one I took of the bed before removing it. The lights are the original items too.
If you'd like to correspond with other owners, I'm likely the only option in Canada, but you never know.
The second picture is the frame and chassis. This one had a Studebaker 6 with overdrive installed by a garage owner around 1960. I put mine on an S10 chassis for my daughter (she thinks it'll make a neat hot rod) since I didn't have near enough for a restoration. If you ever come across a hood for a 1948 to 1954 car or pickup let me know as mine is missing. If you need any parts I won't be using any of that chassis or the tail lights or dash or steering wheel. I also have a front bumper that could be restored and a set of hubcaps and wheels. I'm not using the tow hitch either but it wasn't factory installed on the phase 1s from what I've read. I think it would fit though. Send me a PM if you're interested or just to discuss stuff..
Dave
