I DONT know the answer to your question.
I would think that the steering wheel is specific to carriers. The lay out of the spokes is not seen anywhere else( I've just put myself broadside)It allows the driver to see through the wheel unhindered.
The next thing is the offset of the rim in relation to the centre boss. The rim is forward of the centre, which makes it much easier to skin your knuckles. this design is the reverse of most other steering wheels.
Having said this, the likes of the steering box, is often an evolutionary thing, and I suspect its origins come from something else. I dont remember who made the boxes for the English carriers, but the Canadian ones are made by Ross, which is the same name as the steering box in a Willys MB.
The aussie steering box is a progressive improvement on the others, in that they have an integral mounting bracket. something less to work loose.
