Thanks for the kind words!
Keith, there were several cameras used as the pics were taken over the last six years. Most were taken with a Konica 5 megapixil KD-500Z. some were taken with disposable cheapies and the film copied to CD.
As they say "in a previous life" I used to do freelance photography with several Cannon F1 bodies, 8 lenses and kept track of whether to use Fuji at ASA 100 or KodaChome at ASA 25.
It's so fustrating! Now I am lucky to dig the small digital out of the bren pouch to grab a hurried "snap". Of course, with the new digital SLRs with interchangable lens - the mounts for my old Cannon lens won't match up!
Anyway, What I would like to hear, if the estemed list members have time to comment, is what would you do to improve such pictures? i can't imagine a group of folks with more experiance looking at wartime carrier pictures than here.
What would you include or hide, to give the pics a true period feel to them? ( Sometimes we can do something about the modern backgrounds, sometimes we can't. I am going to play with Photoshop a bit to see if I can get rid of modern signs andsuch.
One thing I wish I could do is change the age and physical stature of some of the members to a young, skinny look instead of 40-50 year olds with too comfortable a life!
Cheer,
Jim
