Boiler systems use a very similiar inline filter that would work like a dam and are 1/2"NTP in and out..
The string filters or paper are probably ideal
The pressure would be ok because of the steam pressure ratings and they are easy to change..and mount anywhere..
And the replacement cartriges are throwaway and cheep..Try a plumbing wholesaler and dig into his catalogues ..

Or you could use the real thing..
