Bob et al,
I shall take some more snaps this week when I get a moment.
There is between 1/2 and 3/4" between the radiator core and the fan. My old pix of the truck don't really show this, but I do recall skinning my knuckles when I tried to remove the fan in the old days with the rad in place, so I think that is unchanged.
We had 6 men to lift the box - but could have done it with 4. All of the guys were 45 plus years old, and were bribed into the lift with lunch and beer. If I would have known that the job would be done in less than 3 minutes I would have not got the good Labatt's beer out for them. 2 of them were off to look for wild turkeys ( the season opens Wednesday ) and did not stay for lunch!
I found that small plate that covers the generator - but cannot recall how it is supposed to fit near the new filter location. I hope that this will become obvious when the cab goes back on! A recent Convoy magazine ( can I mention them here? ) had a pattern for the later version of that cover, but mine is a very early version, and is quite different.
The throttle linkage is CMP from the pedal ( soon to arrive from the Filling Staion ) to the cross over. The rod from the cross over to the pivot, and up to the carb is straight from the 261 parts pile. I needed to drill a cotter pin hole or two, but the rest just fell into place. I have not worked out where to put teh throttle return spring, but that should not be a huge issue.
The exhaust pipe was quite well done by a local guy ( in stainless ) with a new round muffler slipping in quite nicely to the stock bracket on the frame. The C15 original tailpipe was long gone, so I an not sure exactly what the clamp on the tail end looks like.
I bent up new U bolts and installed them thread side up under the box to keep it in place. This orientation makes the nuts a bit harder to get to, but is the way they did it in the factory if the old pictures are to be believed.
I filled the radiator up yesterday evening but drained it out after noticing a drop of antifreeze at the end of one of the water pump bolts. I want to get that leak free before startup.
