Anyway, welcome to MLU. Quite a number of us have served in one capacity or another, from 1939 to now, so you are among friends. We look forward to interacting with you. Rest assured this is a family in the larger sense of the word, and that that sense of family sustains us. You are indeed now 'one of the family'.
Many thanks for your warm welcome Sunray. Unfortunately the damp 'road' was germany - during one visit to Canada I had a different climate to experience -

Minus 42 on the prairie - each morning we had a pallet of 'Easy start' aerosols delivered to each Tank to get those big diesels firing!!!!!

It's a strange thing how the smells of fresh cordite, Derv and, in the case of Chieftain - burning oil - remain in your blood!!
I hope that all ex servers go to regular reunions? They serve well to keep the blood, adrenalin and, most importantly, the humour coursing through the body and mind.
I'm proud to be accepted into a larger brotherhood, I used to be a minion helping to look after our small 'in house' Regimental museum - war diaries became really interesting reading.
I re-iterate, if I can be of help to any family members they need only to ask!!!

"Hullo Sunray 3alpha this is 31....................jesus smudger is that a tank?" crackle , pop, hiss........................silence!!!!!!
