Les, it appears there were more than just one type of small dumper used by the R.E.s and R.C.E.s. Have you come across any official mention of the number of types that were taken on strength? Or was it perhaps that, like today's modern C.M.E.s, there was a discretionary budget for each individual unit to purchase items they deemed necessary for their particular task? In my old unit, we made several vehicle leases/purchases that were civilian pattern, but filled a need for our unit.
