Just spoke with Crouch Recovery. They have quoted £450 + VAT for transporting it Liverpool.

I'm I incorrect to think thats really expensive? Not being from the UK, I think the fellow on the phone might be taking
advantage of the fact I was calling from Canada. 116 miles to Liverpool?

Any advise or contacts would be great!
Probably about right Brad, you are finding out how expensive it is here.

Remember the chargeable distance is over twice what you have stated: from their depot to the pick-up, to Liverpool and then back; likely well over 250 miles say. £1.80/mile isn't bad.

It takes time to organise a one-way "back load", if you can do it at all.

Bear in mind the stunning cost of fuel here plus the operator taxation, annual and severe HGV tests, and the vehicle tax which is a minefield - http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/taxation.htm

Diesel, by the way is as near as dammit 4 quid a gallon, or about $8.50 at current rates.

It may be possible to get a Ferret at some 3.5 Tonnes onto a beaver-tail flat-bed, if so then it can be driven by an older person with the licence that permits 7.5 tonnes gross on a car licence.

Fortunately I have an old-boy trucker on hand that does £1/mile loaded or with the trailer, and 50p/mile if he needs the tractor unit - a bob-tail run; he barely breaks even but likes the free entry to MV shows and the like!!!!!!

With two of us sharing you can't beat 50p/mile!!
