Good afternoon all. A relative passed on this cap badge to me and I was wondering if anyone could give me a little information on it. I note the word "Royal" is absent, is this a WWI badge?
Also, can anyone direct me to sites regarding Canadian cap badges, collar dogs, shoulder patches, etc. I have several basic books but am looking for colour photos.
Many thanks, Dave

A question right up my alley! Prior to April 29, 1936 the Engineers of the Regular component and the Militia had separate cap badges.
The regular component was established on July 1, 1903 and was known as the "Canadian Engineer Corps". It was redesignated the "Royal Canadian Engineers" Feb. 1, 1904 and the "Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers" March 1, 1932. In 1973 we became known as "Canadian Military Engineers"
The Engineers of the Militia were known as "Canadian Engineers" from August 1904 until March 1, 1932, when they became the "Corps of Canadian Engineers" until April 29, 1936.
What you have is a Militia cap badge of the Canadian Engineers.
Would you be interested in selling it?
