Further to what David and Tony mentioned, here's a picture of such a Thornton 2-Axle Drive conversion, in this case fitted to a Canadian
Truck, 3-ton, 6x6, Crash Tender (Ford/Marmon-Herrington MM5-6). These were used in pre/early WW2 conversions.
Awfully nice of the buyer to return it to you!
