Default Toronto

They built Algerine minesweepers on the Toronto waterfront. Redfern Construction was the contractor. Had at least two going at one time. My mother worked as a welder on board during construction. When they switched over her crew went to
King St. Int'l Harvester to weld POL carriers for 60 cwt bodies. When that ran out it was over to Inglis to grind Bren mags.
We had one of the mags here for years and she always thought the Horsemen would come looking for it.
The book to have is Canada's War at Sea. Published 1944,
written by Stephen Leacock. Has hundreds of wartime ads in the back about local Wartime production.
