There's nothing wrong in principle with the 'bullpup' design for a small-calibre assault rifle. It saves having different weapons for armoured crews, motorised troops and infantry.
The problems that we have had is that the SA80. while being very accurate on the range, has a reputation for falling apart in combat.
I've fired this thing on a range - it's 'orrible - give me a No4 anyday.!!
