When I moved to Texas I thought that's it, I'll never see or hear another piper unless I go back to B.C. I'm pleased to admit that I was wrong! Surprisingly, the Gaelic influence has spread world-wide even to the Lone Star state. There are two large Gaelic festivals held here every year complete with Highland dance and Pipe competitions. The younger brother of a friend of mine; Robbie McCallion once won the competition and was the Texas State Champion. He has since travelled to Edinburgh to compete there and will be performing with the Chieftains during their upcoming visit to Fort Worth. I pointed out to him that they were Irish, but he didn't mind! So, I'm lucky, I can get my pipe fix on a regular basis. My love of the pipes must be from my paternal Grandmother who was Welsh. That's the closest we came to Scotland.

CHIMO!
