Thanks for the offers - I will try the thread file and see if I can coax the nut back on. Its just a small spot on the first 2 threads that are a bit off, so I am cautiously optimistic about getting this sorted out.
Chris - if you can find a die, that couldn't hurt for when I really screw it up ( get it - screw it up - a thread joke - hahaha!
