Well I got that beat Mark!! Do you remember at the end of one summer EX..the same unit only brought back 3 of the 4 106s?...one was forgotten in Pet..so yours truly and Purvis went up in the Crewcab ( along with an Officer we were supposed to leave there) to pick it up.. When we arrived we found that a 106 would not fit in the back of the CC...so I went out to the field Maintance unit..talked to one of my techs that I had left a 106 jeep with and went back to pick up the gun..I was told I could not drive on the roads off base with the gun on the jeep..so we kinda tied it down in the CC until we got off base then mounted it on the jeep....I remember going down one of those long hills on the 401..the needle went right off the speedo..so I had to pull it out of gear...I didn't dare use the brakes..I would guess we hit 90 at the bottom..The Officer with me was screaming for me to slow down...thank God I couldn't see his face with the gun barrel between us...I remember shortly after stopping at a resturant at the top of the next hill..I parked at the front windows in the driveway...you should have seen the faces of the people eating...I think that was the scariest driving experiance I had during my Military time...even worse that trying to teach Fraser or Miller to drive...I saw Miller at the Camp X Rememberance Day Service this year..He's a QM type these days... anyway I would like to help my friend build a 106 jeep..I think he has a windshield for one..and thats a start.
