Default I prefer crooked...

Brad,

I like the stars crooked myself, it's documented (in numerous photos) that it was fairly commonplace, and it definatly sets vehicles apart when parked next to "american" equipment. I'm debating myself whether to paint stars at all on my jeep or not, but found a jeep with 6th AB that had a crooked star on it, so might go for the crooked look....

...if anything it's a nice conversation piece at displays. You can bore the public with more information than they need to know when they ask if the guy painting the stars was drunk.

I can see it now...."Actually, it was laid out in order 24-4-356 dated March '43 about the star, but then in November of 43 you have order.....ma'am... wake up please..."

of course, I don't know that from experience...

BTW... I hear you on the hole drilling. Damn repro bodies, I suprise myself when I find even MORE holes that need to be drilled here and there. I'm well over 200 holes drilled on the little ol' jeep, and luckily most of them have been in the right spots
