The markings on this truck are interesting. The name "Te Taiwha" represents a vehicle from "T" troop, which like "R" and "W" troops was made up of New Zealanders who named their vehicles after Maori placenames stating with the troop letter. I don't think Te Taiwha is an original vehicle name though. The Kiwi was the symbol for T Patrol.

Known NZ LRDG vehicle names:

R Patrol:
Rotoma, Rotoehu, Rotoiti, Rotorua, Rotoroa, Rotoairo, Rotokawa, Rotomahana, Rotowhero, Rotkakahi, Rotowaro, Rotowai.

T Patrol:
Te Anau, Te Ariki, Te Aroha, Te Auti, Te Aute, Te Awa, Te Hai, Te Hau, Te Pa, Te Paki, Te Puke, Te Rangi, Te Roti, Te Taniwha, Te Wanaka, Taipo, Taupo, Tirau, Tutira.

W Patrol:
Waiariki, Waihi, Waiti, Waikaha, Waima, Waipa, Wainui, Waitoma, Waitemata, Wanaka, Wairoa, Waiora, Waitotara.
