Default No 19 WS in MKII Universal Carrier

Reviving an old thread . This might help Petr or someone else . I discovered recently that a No 25 carrier for the No 19 set fits perfectly over the rear seat of the Carrier . I made a wood mock up of the metal plate that goes over the seat for fitting . I installed No 1 mountings as on wireless truck table and voilą ! Perfect fit with the variometer , antenna base and control box on top . The No 25 carrier is in wartime colour .I am drawing from my own military experience and it seems that if the Carrier was used to carry around a FOO ( Artillery Forward Observer ) or a FAC ( Forward Air Controler ) he would like to be able to dismount the radio quickly in a forward position in order to call in supporting fires while the driver hides away the vehicle. Kinda like we used the PRC -25 / 77 to do that . Now , that is more recent tactics that i have witnessed , i don’t know if it applies to WW2 . Anyway , now i wil’ be concentrating on connecting the power cable to the batteries that are stored in the compartment next to the driver’s right elbow and powering it up eventualy .
