Let me try to right things up. Sideways and upside down photos are due to them being taken by a cellphone, which places some kind of information in the photo about which way is up relative to how the phone was held. Even if you rotate the photo, the information will tell the computer to display it upside down or sideways again. I find you have to move the photos to an editor, rotate it and make a slight size difference, and then save the changes. The photos will now appear in their desired orientation.
