Interestingly,
my F15A came with the same type of spare wheel carrier. It has one hinged clamshell (though mine is a simple U-profile replacement), the other end is made of steel strip to hold the wheel in place (the top of which can just be seen in the picture below). It is bolted directly to the chassis. I have presumed until now this is a 30- or 60-cwt spare tyre carrier. Could this be an alternative 15-cwt style?
