Lynx air filter
The re-commissioning of the LynxI MkIII* continues. We have had problems with the electric pump not giving the pressure we would have expected. The filter and valves are fine.
In order to test whether the combination of mechanical and electrical pumps was delivering fuel we wished to start the engine (for the first time). In order to do that we wished to prime the carburettor and intended to take the oil bath air filter off. The manual is no help and we concluded that to do this we would have to remove two head nuts. I do not like removing head nuts on an otherwise settled engine so elected not to do so unless it is absolutely necessary. Is it?
In the end we filled the float chamber by removing the pipe between the pump and the carb and injecting petrol with a syringe. Once reassembled, the engine started first pop and sounds really smooth.
