I'd forgotten I did something similar on the arctic top off my M38 Jeep. Only difference was I used a 1/4" clevis pin and R-clip in lieu of the bolt.

As a footnote, I checked with O'Neill's Vintage Ford in the UK, and their recommendation is
not to use the repro Model A hinges (even on Model A's), due to very poor quality.
