I think the bolted variant was issued with the
Completely Knocked Down (C.K.D.) 15-cwt bodies 2H1 and 2J1, because to me it makes sense to have a tool box which can be flat-packed alongside a flat-packed cargo box.
The ones with the cut-out were for the earlier 2A1, 2B1 (and early 2C1?) bodies to clear the short filler necks on the Cab 11 and 12.
