More info:

Thread is 5/8-18 UNF and the head is 1-1/8 size.

I would think the UNF would pretty much preclude the hull fittings, and lead toward either the engine, transmission, or differential. Or it may be off some accessory that was in the carrier.

Perhaps it is one of the bolts that hold the diff to the hull? The manual lists those as 3/4". My parts manual is at work, but the bolt looks like one of the ones that hold the differential adapter to the casing. They have a shank.
