Default SITREP

The ceremonies at Windsor armouries were outstanding.
Friday night saw an open house for the general public with parade vehicles on display, re-enactors from all eras, pipe band music, big band sound and dancing, BBQ by the Salvation Army and yes, plenty of our favourite beverages at very modest prices.
Saturday morning was cold and wet. I arrived at the armoury early to check out the staging process prior to the parade.
Vehicles and groups were staged out on Freedom Way beside the armoury building for a formal inspection before the parade marched approximately 7km to the new facilities.
There were several hundred people involved in the parade itself with elements from the Essex and Kent Regt, Windsor Regt, 21 Service Battalion incl EME guys, variuos re-enactors and plenty of vehicles. There were many universal carriers, a couple halftracks, Sherman tank, jeeps etc.
The parade ended at the new facility with the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting. Unfortunately it began to rain quite heavily which caused a change in format for the ceremonies at the armoury as things were to take place outdoors.
All in all, a great opportunity to interact with the public and our armed forces.
