The Australian National Aviation Museum celebrated the 75th anniversary of the first flight of their Wirraway aircraft today.
The Wirraway has been given a birthday too, with new fabric and a paint job showing how it would have looked on that day in September 1939.
A20-10 was only the 8th Wirraway built by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation and is the oldest surviving airframe.
The Museum is also restoring the oldest Beaufort, A9-13, a massive undertaking. All the aircraft are in static (i.e. non flying) condition. The collection also boasts a Beaufighter, also capable of running one engine.
Here's a link to the first engine run today.
