That may be the result of your alternator coming off a US military truck like the M35A3 which used a cat engine, although I cannot say for sure if it used this alternator, although quite possible. The M900 series of trucks also used these alternators.

These alternators were also used as a direct replacement and an upgrade for the M37, the M135, and the old gas 5 tons like the M62 if they needed the extra amperage. There was even an official modification to install them in the Canadian Ferret scout cars. I went one step further and installed them in any FV432s that I worked on or owned.
