Granted, I haven't attended an HMV or other auto event since the fall of 2012, I still managed to put over 1000 miles on my M151A2 driving here in the NCR between May and Oct this year.
My M151 is akin to another mans motorcycle, i.e. its my fair weather toy. If that happens to coincide with an event, great. If not, no harm to foul, as I still enjoy the hell out of it. I suspect many others roll like this as well.
As far as driving an HMV from city to city for an event... Will my M151A2 survive a road trip from Kingston to Ottawa, most definitely. Do I feel like subjecting myself to it? Not really. I've already got that t-shirt for driving MVs (Iltis included) all over this country (and others) in my day job

I'll stick to sunny days driving along the Rideau Canal, or if i'm feeling crazy, Barrhaven to visit Spinnerhawken.
EDIT, as this memory just popped into my mind. A Reservist who volunteered to deploy with my Unit years ago once told me and a few others that "Remember, your job is my hobby". In a sense, this kind of applies here
