Default Hudson stores

Some Melbournites may recall Hudson Stores located in the top end of Bourke St. It was a pre wartime hardware store , it was a very old building that was about to collapse .

In the 1970's they had a eclectic range of WW2 vehicle parts , Bren carrier bits and other stuff . They sold the Aust. Bren carrier log books for 20c each , and dispatch rider log books too , these were sold to the public as note books for scribbling a shopping list in .

I bought a few of the log books but seem to have lost them over the years .

I recall the military side curtains hanging from the ceiling with the price in shillings /-

The club members in the know would go there and buy the US vehicle blackout lights new in the box for $5 .

They also had the Marmon Herrington plates ..... the oval with the M-H wings and the other M-H plates too , in brass and aluminium .
