The N.Z Army ran two vehicle books, AB (army book?) 53 and AB54.
The AB 53 was the running book with date, mileage start, mileage end, purpose of trip etc.
The AB 54 was the record of workshop maintenance and repairs detailing service work done, dates, major component changes (replacement engine numbers etc.
I think this system was a carry over of the Brit system from WWII.
Both books (lace tied, to be able to add pages) were carried together in a canvas cover in the veh. to give the M.Ps something to look at.
