Hi John,
That is an M3A1 White Scout Car. Many Commanding officers including 'Patton' used the White as they did offer a lot more armoured protection, a smoother faster ride and you could shut the door to keep out the cold wind. The extra fire power available was also probably an advantage.
That scout car in the photo is from the first 4 'lots'. The wheels were changed to combat rims about lot 5 of the production run.
