The average WWII British soldier was a skinny little guy; excepting colonials and Americans who were slightly larger based on better childhood nutrition - so I've been told. Accordingly, clothing and kit came in larger sizes. Skip ahead 70 years, and adults alive today are larger. Some more than others.
In 2003 I drew a set of tall battledress for a ceremonial parade, and our fixer observed the donor must have been a very impressive Paymaster. Even then, the pants were short, and I am not the tallest guy in a room.
So maybe the remark about Canadian kit having a higher value is misrepresenting the fact that larger reenactors and guys-who-like-to-wear-what-they-buy, are pushing up the prices?
