'Tis true, both the front and rear axle used the same 6.5:1 ratio ring and pinion. The good news is that they were also interchangeable with the ring and pinion fitted to the Chev C15A. The bad news is that the ring gear (aka Crown wheel) is rivetted to the carrier (aka Hemisphere), not bolted, so it is probably better to source the whole innards of a diff rather than a loose ring and pinion. IF you can source the fluted rivets, then re-fitting a 2nd hand ring gear might not give enough tension for the rivets to bite into.
