On closer inspection, I think the thumb screws are forged. They have a wide seam on the shoulder and the part number is stamped in. I am also going to get a quote on having them machined from round stock, that would also supply them finished.
Ben is correct. Chucking the cast screws up in a lathe to turn and possibly thread would be getting expensive. Some might think machining from bar stock would be expensive as well. When I get the quotes, will post prices.
