Hi Phil

I agree that you should obtain as much documentation and photos as possible when purchasing old vehicles. We always obtain receipts and photograph the vehicle from all angles for our records. As part of having an old vehicle registered, in South Australia you must also present the vehicle to the police station who check numbers and conduct a vehicle check before providing a completed form signed off by police which has to be submitted with all other documentation to the Dept. of Registration.

Border Raids are when some one crosses a state border to collect/recover a found vehicle trophy and move it back into your own state. It is all tongue in cheek stuff and part of Australian interstate rivalry which is part of our make up. There is nothing better than getting " a one up " on your opposition and is all a lot of fun, because when the country is in trouble there are no borders.
