I'm pretty much convinced that any of these guns that ended up in Australia came there as diverted shipments from the NEI, just like the
Marmon-Herrington two-man tanks and
Ford/Marmon-Herrington ½-ton 4x4 trucks. After the fall of Singapore, Australia believed to be under imminent threat of Japanese invasion in early 1942 and any type of equipment was welcome to the ill-equipped army, either in second line duty if not in front-line duty.
