UPDATE on:
1. 4 June - The Canadian Defence Community's First Annual Family
Appreciation Day (CFB Uplands Site) - THIS SATURDAY
I spoke with the planner and he is asking that members arrive PROMPTLY
at 0900 hrs. DEWATS on/with vehicles are acceptable as are uniforms age
specific to your vehicle. Bear in mind that this is the Defence
community family appreciation day and there will be lots of military
members and their families there so if you are wearing a uniform, please
and thank you to wear it properly. This is a great opportunity to meet
with and talk about our old vehicles with some of the good folk who
drove them while serving and talk to the families as to this great hobby
- we're in a friendly audience.
The event is listed on their website and shows location of the event.
http://www.cfsuo.forces.gc.ca/fad-jaf/index-eng.asp
We are going to be co-located with the Cdn War Museum vehicles
Location is on Breadner Blvd which is the major east/west road on the old base and for those
familiar with the base - it's the field where the Officer's Mess used to
be located along with the barrack blocks and the road where the CF-100
Canuck and the CF-101 Voodoo used to be located. Please advise me by
Friday noon if you are going to participate so that I can give him rough
numbers (please and thank you to those who have already done so).
It should be a good day with the weather hopefully cooperating as its
forecast to be in the low 20 degrees C.
The Jiffy Jeep is to be on parade at 1100-1130 hrs and again in the
afternoon at 1445-1515 hrs and you won't want to miss that.
2. 18 June (Saturday) -0900-1700 hrs 2011 Classic Air/Cars at the
Canadian Aviation & Space Museum, Ottawa ON
The organizer is to get back to me as to parking behind the wire on
Friday if anyone wants to park there in advance. Again, please advise me
of your intent to participate no later than 15 June. Thanks to those who
have already passed along this information.
3. 26 June (Sunday) - 0900-1500 hrs - Carleton Place Car Show,
Carleton Place ON
Spoke with Ken and he'd be pleased to see the OMVA participate. The
event kicks off at 0900 hours so in order to place all the CMP/Mil
vehicles together, he suggested that people be there by 0830 at the
latest. They will be there from 0700 hrs onwards anyhow. Again, if you
intend to go, please advise me by 22 June so that I can give him a
rough idea as to numbers.
4. Hazeldean Cruise Night - just a reminder that every Tuesday night a
1800 hrs at the Hazeldean Mall parking lot (Hazeldean and Eagleson in
Kanata) is teh cruise night and some members usually show up with some
vintage Olive Drab tin. Don Cherry's is right behind the parking lot
should one feel the need.
That's it for now.
