Does anyone know for definite the actual location for 9th August 1944?
The modern day photos used in battlefield histories are a bit vague as to the precise spot and I believe this is because of the changes in the landscape since 1944.
The modern Google view of the area

A 1947 view.

The village to the far left is Estrees La Campagne and the wooded area is in the bottom r/h corner

This is (I believe) the location as it fits well with the map of the position drawn by Lt. Gartley in Reid's book (pg 314, No Holding Back)

Note that the enclosing hedge or the field is no longer shown in the modern view and a small copse has grown up on the left.

Some details do not match so I wonder if anything else is available to fix the location.
