During WWII the 1st Brigade was refered to as the "Shiny 1st Brigade" and was composed of the following units;
The Royal Canadian Regiment (Pukas)
Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment (Plough Jockeys)
48th Highlanders of Canada (Glamour Boys)
Prior to WWI the 48th were also known as the "Red Watch" so named by a newspaper writer in Sault Saint Marie. It was also the title of a book written by Lt/Col. Currie the first C.O. of the 15th Bn. CEF (48th Highlanders).
The Imperial Black Watch were often refered to as the "Sheep Shaggers"
