Latest recovery.....
Thanks to networking and two generous MLU members, we were told were we could recover the first ever cab 11 that we actually drove on and off the trailer.
It was used as a tow device for taking boats out of the water at a marina.
Motor has been replaced with a modern 235 that really runs well. Extra steel in front is all bolted and easily removed..... bumper brackets still there.
When loading the 92 year old owner asked if we might be interested in an old trailer/truck frame but that had wheels like the truck. Off we went to the back and discovered under rotting timber/plywood the siad wheels...dig dig... hey this thing has a full solid steel CMP trailer axle..... well we could cut the U bolts.... it had no springs.... owner says if youtake the axle you have to take the whole thing...dig dig.... more lumber flying.... geez it a whole CMP trailer frame... with parts we can use.... awright get the backhoe and lets drag it out to the trailer..... well the 20 foot trailer was too short,,, so we listed the cab 11 rear axle and insert the front of the trailer frame that had no axle. Done deal.......
rap we discovered a flat tire on the float... on a new tire I installed the night before.... while Grant is changing the tire the owner said that I might as well take the spare tire from the barn....dig dig .. in a corner are two CMP rims on with a brand new tire (circa 1995) that still had the shop sticker....GoodYear Suburbanite 9x16 Snow Mud grip.
So on top of that the camera had two dead batteries... that is why the attached photos are from the driveway at home.
WE unloaded in reverse order..... lifting the cab 11 rear axle while Grant pulled the frame from underneath with his Ford... I believe that Rob got pictures of me driving off the trailer.
Power train is in excellent shape..... two serviceable fuel tank... dot and dash original floor plate frame very straight but missing the towing hitch and last 8 inches of frame.... very fixable. From the front shocks..rear shock linkages,,, no fuel filter or hole in the frame style of gas tanks...it is probably a very early cab 11 but has the front vents....
Kept the bast for last..... it was free.....
Boob
....we will be running it at the BBQ
