alot of our carriers were given to the Russians (and others) on lend lease agreements, a shed load were tipped into the sea, and those that made it back led a variety of lives from working blackpool beach, to working for quarries, forestry commisions, agriculture, building trades, you name it they were utilised I know that Whitburn ranges here in the north east used a carrier right into the 60's for carrying crap down to the range butts.... unfortunately most of the bulk ended up being returned to pots and pans......
you often hear stories of carriers being used in wonderfull ways.... i am sure one chap posted on here about one being utilised as an icecream whisker or something along those lines....
