Default Type 3 with center rod

Hi Bob

Yup they kept making them better below are photos of W-1 with Dust Proof Top and Center bolt air cleaner hold down. My `45 HUP has one of these which I suspect is the original, little on that truck was changed. My `42 Pat 13 C60S also had one of these which is shown in picture, which might be a replacement.

In the picture with the other carbs you will note the rubber boot around the accelerator pump link, you will also note that it is no longer sealed to the top of the carb, unfortunately it didn't like the alcohol in the gas. The other two carbs are for a 261 and a 235/

I suspect that they went to the center bolt because it is a more secure way of holding the air cleaner on. Willing to bet that a lot of the clamp version were put back on and the clamps not tighten resulting in the air cleaners falling off spilling oil all over the manifold.

If any one is wondering why the maps as bench covers, every year I get a case of out of date maps from a friend.

Cheers Phil
