I have a 1944 F60S 13 cab and it was missing a horn. Over the years I have watched Milweb and Ebay and searched by various search names.
Ford Canada,CMP Truck, Truck Horn, Horn 6v and Horn 12v.
Finally after about 3 years I saw a LONG horn as per the picture that Stefan was able to post a while ago. The Asking bids on Ebay were by my estimate not to high, The description from the seller was a picture and a very short text, Along lines of Old Truck / car horn, Voltage Unknown, not working and a starting pice about 10 CDN Dollars [5 GBP].I BID ONCE ONLY at 40 dollars 20 GBP. Topped the best bid and won it somewhere around 15 CDN, Plus postage.
Once the package arrived, I was quiet prepared to find a total basket case inside the horn shell. on dismantaling the horn rear cover I could see a that the original wires had worn thru the insulation. I re insulated the wires, tightened up all the connectors and after attaching carefully to a 12v supply was able to get a feeble croak from the Diaphragm. Adjusted the lock nut and points and tried again, nearly blew my ear drums out, Nice deep tone.
I see from the comments on this post that I should have a Short Horn on my 1944 truck. OK maybe one day, but for now this one sounds great and does not look out of place.
I hope the one you bought works just as well for you but dont forget to check the wires inside the cover and of course make a good earth connection onto the chassis frame to complete the circuit.
After all if its LOUD enough to frighten jaywalkers it saves scraping them off the fenders later .
