Great Long Weekend at the Hammond Barn
It was a fine long weekend in Hammond (there will be some activity on Dominion Day, but I won't be there, but in Merrickville with the S&P gang). On the weekend, Grant, Bob and I attended to some small tasks while the rain came down. Guy Vapeur stopped by (see above threads) and sold off some of his finds. We hope to see more of Guy in the future with a view to forming the "Hammond Quartet"...Lunch at Chez Marie was as good as usual and fortified us for the afternoon fun and games.
When it wasn't raining, we loaded my HUP on the trailer for the Monday run to the muffler shop in downtown Orleans (east end of Ottawa). Bob left the barn early to sort out some windows for his rear deck. I parted company around 2:30 PM as the heat and humidity peaked.
Today (Monday), saw Bob and I running the HUP to the shop. We ditched the HUP and had breakfast at the Cozy Nest in Orleans - I know, it's sort of cheating on Chez Marie, but a change is as good as a rest...Back at the barn, the sun broke cover and we decided to do some sandblasting. Bob cleaned up his front end sheet metal and I got my doghouse and a small floor plate cleaned up. Duty called me home for some work related telephone calls, and I met Bob at the muffler shop later that afternoon to retrieve the HUP. After paying Dan the Muffler Man for his good work, Bob hauled the HUP back to Hammond, where we off-loaded and called it a day. The heavens opened up just as we put the HUP back into its shelter. Many thanks, Bob. It is good to have friends who share the same interests, and more importantly, friends who have a truck and trailer. Bob's time and effort were very much appreciated! Now I have no excuse for putting the body on the frame, except maybe a second coat of paint - if it ever stops raining here.

Why is it that when you have the $$, you don't have the time, and when you have the time you don't have the $$?
