Just wanting to find some info on: Contract V4152 for 15 cwt 4X2 MCC trucks .

I think it is possibly from 1941 ? Would you have the breakdown of vehicles e.g., GS - Compressor etc.

Numbers on the MCC plate on the CS8 here .

Chassis nr. 1930 CS8 18080

1930 is the sanction number I think ? What does that number mean ?

18080 is the chassis number as in sequence . Getting near the end as they made around 21, 000 I believe .

OH 70681 is still there in situ as stated on the MCC data plate in the firewall .

The MCC spare parts list apparently quotes 2,240 trucks:
635 Office Body;
379 Wireless;
384 Air Compressorl;
842 G/S.

Census Numbers allocated were:

I am not sure what "1930" means unless it is the number supplied under that contract? The model was CS8T Mk III in WD parlance, and the contract seems to date to June 1941. Does that help?

The ' Chemical ' variant is a unusual one .. what role did it play and what fitments would it have had... tanker ....as in water bowser ?

The bonnet is not there , alas the Z number is long gone .

Found this pic ., depicts a CS8, 1938ish as it has the flat section wings ... It has the GS body with a bowser of some sort . Filters maybe .. along each side, water ... chemical .. petrol ?

The top one looks like a water tanker, and the next one a fuel one. I have some pre-war prints which I used in VINTAGE ROADSCENE, and will check them asap/ However the fuel tankers seem to have had the capacity in gallons on the tank or body, and NO SMOKING signs.

Only a possible theory.... absolutely not solid
 

Some airfield fire fighting vehicles were referred to as "chemical trucks" due to the chemicals added to the water to make foam. These trucks usually had smaller water tanks than a truck that relied on water alone. Could this fit the pictured vehicles?
